Chapter 2 — Second Chapter
Shandilya
6 Shloka • Translation Only
Thereafter, Brahmarshi Shandilya, being unable to obtain Brahma Vidya in the four Vedas (even after studying all the four Vedas), went to Lord Atharva and asked - 'O Lord! Please make me study Brahma Vidya, so that I can attain welfare.
After that Atharva Muni started saying - "O Shandilya! Brahma is present in truth, science and infinite forms."
In which all this is pervaded. In which it arises and also disappears, in the same way, the one by understanding whom all this is understood, is without hands and legs, without eyes, without function, without tongue, without body, which cannot be accepted, and which cannot be clearly explained.
Without attaining which speech and mind turn backwards. He who can be attained only by knowledge, by whom ancient wisdom has been spread, who is unique and incomparable, omnipresent like the sky, extremely subtle, without colour, without action, the only true form, endowed with consciousness, form of bliss, endowed with monotony, auspicious, extremely peaceful and immortal, he is the supreme indestructible Brahman. He is you. Know him through knowledge.
The one who is predominant in the form of the power of the one divine soul, is full of knowledge in all respects, is the lord of all, is the inner soul of all beings, resides in all beings, is hidden in all beings, is the original place of origin of all beings, can be known only through yoga, who creates, maintains and dissolves the universe himself, is the soul. You should know all of them to be situated in the soul itself.
You should not grieve at all. By gaining special knowledge of the soul, you will be able to end the grief.
