अथ ह शाण्डिल्यो ह वै ब्रह्मऋषिश्चतुषु वेदेषु ब्रह्मविद्यामलभमानः किं नामेत्यथर्वाणं भगवन्तमुपसन्त्रः पप्रच्छाधीहि भगवन् ब्रह्मविद्यां येन श्रेयोऽवाफ्यामीति ॥
Thereafter, Brahmarshi Shandilya, being unable to obtain Brahma Vidya in the four Vedas (even after studying all the four Vedas), went to Lord Atharva and asked - 'O Lord! Please make me study Brahma Vidya, so that I can attain welfare.
