नाभ्यस्ता भुविवादिवृन्ददमनी विद्या विनीतोचिता
खड्गाग्रैः करिकुम्भपीठदलनैर्नाकं न नीतं यशः ।
कान्ताकोमलपल्लवाधररसः पीतो न चन्द्रोदये
तारुण्यं गतमेव निष्फलमहो शून्यालये दीपवत् ।।
We did not study in this world the knowledge that satisfies the humble and praises the litigants, did not take our fame to heaven by cutting the back of the head of an elephant with the edge of the sword; Didn't even drink the juice of Sundari's (beautiful woman) soft adhar-pallav (lower lip) in the moonlight night. Alas! Our youth was wasted like a lamp that burns in an empty house and gets extinguished on its own!
