रम्यं हर्म्यतलं न किं वसतये श्राव्यं न गेयादिकं किं वा प्राणसमासमागमसुखं नैवाधिकं प्रीतये।। किं तूद्भ्रान्तपतङ्गपक्षपवनव्यालोलदीपाङ्कुर- च्छायाचञ्चलमाकलय्य सकलं सन्तो वनान्तं गताः।।
Were there not the best palaces for the sages to live in, were there not the best songs to listen to, were there not the pleasure of the company of lovely women, that they went to live in the forests? Yes, everything was; But he left this world thinking it to be fickle like the shadow of a lamp moved by the wind produced by the wings of a falling kite; Or he left the world like a foolish kite, which, moving in the shade of a lamp swayed by the wind, burns its tail and burns it to ashes, seeing the world destroying itself.
