पितोवाच-
वेदानधीत्य ब्रह्मचर्येण पुत्र पुत्रानिच्छेत् पावनार्थं पितॄणाम् ।
अग्नीनाधाय विधिवच्चेष्टयज्ञो वनं प्रविश्याथ मुनिर्बुभूषेत् ॥
The father said - Son! A Brahmin should first study all the Vedas while observing celibacy; then enter the Grihasthashram and desire to have a son for the salvation of his ancestors. Establish the three types of fires according to the rules and perform the yagnas. After that, enter the Vanaprasthashram. After that, live in silence and desire to become a Sanyasi.
