शशी दिवसधूसरो गलितयौवना कामिनी।
सरो विगतवारिजं मुखमनक्षरं स्वाकृते: ।।
प्रभुर्धनपरायण: सततदुर्गत: सज्जनो।
नृपाङ्गणगत: खलो मनसि सप्त शल्यानि मे ।।
The dirty moon of the day, the youth less courtesan, the lotus-less lake, the illiterate beauty, the miserly lord or king, the poverty of the gentleman and the presence of the wicked in the royal assembly – these seven prick our hearts like thorns.
