क्षान्तिश्चेत्कवचेन किं, किमिरिभिः क्रोधोऽस्ति चेद्देहिनां
ज्ञातिश्चेदनलेन किं यदि सुहृद्दिव्यौषधिः किं फलम् ।
किं सर्पैर्यदि दुर्जनः, किमु धनैर्वुद्यानवद्या यदि
व्रीडा चेत्किमु भूषणैः सुकविता यद्यस्ति राज्येन किम् ।।
If there is forgiveness, then what is the need of armor? If there is anger, then what is the need of enemies? If it is indigenous, then what is the purpose of fire? If there are friends with beautiful hearts, then what is the use of auspicious divine medicines? If he is evil, then what about snakes? If there is innocent knowledge, then what is the use of money? If there is shame, then what is the need of jewellery? If there is the power of beautiful poetry, then what is the purpose of royalty?
