Kaushitaki Brahmana • Chapter 4 • Shloka 8
स होवाच बालाकिर्य एवैषोऽग्नौ पुरुषस्तमेवाहमुपास इति तं होवाचाजातशत्रुर्मा मैतस्मिन्संवादयिष्ठा विषासहिरिति वा अहमेतमुपास इति स यो हैतमेवमुपास्ते विषासहिहुँवान्वेष भवति ॥
Balaki said:
“The Person who dwells in fire (agni)—it is He whom I worship.”
Ajatashatru replied:
“Do not speak to me about Him in that way. I worship Him as Viṣāsahi—the One who overcomes and withstands all hostile forces.”
He continued:
“Whoever worships Him in this manner becomes strong, resilient, and capable of overcoming opposition, enduring and prevailing over adverse forces.”
