Kaushitaki Brahmana • Chapter 4 • Shloka 7
स होवाच बालाकिर्य एवैष वायौ पुरुषस्तमेवाहमुपास इति तं होवाचाजातशत्रुर्मा मैतस्मिन्संवादयिष्ठा इन्द्रो वैकुण्ठोऽपराजिता सेनेति वा अहमेतमुपास इति स यो हैतमेवमुपास्ते । जिष्णुर्ह वापराजयिष्णुरन्यतस्त्यजायी भवति ॥
Balaki said:
“The Person who dwells in the wind (vāyu)—it is He whom I worship.”
Ajatashatru replied:
“Do not speak to me about Him in that way. I worship Him as Indra, the Unassailable One, the leader of an invincible host.”
He continued:
“Whoever worships Him in this manner becomes victorious and unconquerable. He overcomes others and is not easily defeated by any opponent.”
