Kaushitaki Brahmana • Chapter 4 • Shloka 6
स होवाच बालाकिर्य एवैष आकाशे पुरुषस्तमेवाहमुपास इति तं होवाचाजातशत्रुर्मा मैतस्निन्संवादयिष्ठाः पूर्णमप्रवर्ति ब्रह्येति वा अहमेतमुपास इति स यो हैतमेवमुपास्ते पूर्यते प्रजया पशुभिः । नो एव स्वयं नास्य प्रजा पुरा कालात्प्रवर्तते ॥
Balaki said:
“The Person who dwells in space (ākāśa)—it is He whom I worship.”
Ajatashatru replied:
“Do not speak to me about Him in that way. I worship Him as the Full, the Unchanging, and the All-pervading Brahman.”
He continued:
“Whoever worships Him in this manner becomes endowed with fullness, being blessed with children, cattle, and prosperity. Neither he nor his descendants decline before their proper time.”
