Kaushitaki Brahmana • Chapter 4 • Shloka 2
स होवाच बालाकिर्य एवैष आदित्ये पुरुषस्तमेवाहमुपास इति तं होवाचाजातशत्रुर्मा मैतस्मिन्संवादयिष्ठाः । बृहन्पाण्डरवासा अतिष्ठाः सर्वेषां भूतानां मूर्धेति वा अहमेतमुपास इति स यो हैतमेवमुपास्तेऽतिष्ठाः सर्वेषां भूतानां मूर्धा भवति ॥
Balaki said:
“The Person who dwells in the sun—it is He whom I worship.”
Ajatashatru replied:
“Do not speak to me about Him in that way. I worship Him as the Great One, clothed in radiant white, and supreme above all beings.”
He continued:
“Whoever worships Him in this manner becomes eminent and exalted among all beings, attaining a position of superiority and distinction.”
