Kaushitaki Brahmana • Chapter 4 • Shloka 16
स होवाच बालाकिर्य एवैष दक्षिणेऽक्षन्पुरुषस्तमेवाहमुपास इति तं होवाचा-जातशत्रुर्मा मैतस्मिन्संवादयिष्ठा नाप्न आत्माऽग्नेरात्मा ज्योतिष आत्मेति वा अहमेतमुपास इति स यो हैतमेवमुपास्त एतेषां सर्वेषामात्मा भवति ॥
Balaki said:
“The Person who dwells in the right eye—it is He whom I worship.”
Ajatashatru replied:
“Do not speak to me about Him in that way. I worship Him as the Self of what is fitting and beneficial, the Self of fire, and the Self of light.”
He continued:
“Whoever worships Him in this manner becomes identified with the essence of all these powers, and comes to realize himself as the inner Self of them all.”
