न हि प्रज्ञापेता वाङ् नाम किंचन प्रज्ञापयेत्। अन्यत्र मे मनोऽभूदित्याह । नाहमेतन्नाम प्राज्ञासिषमिति। न हि प्रज्ञापेतः प्राणो गन्धं कंचन प्रज्ञापयेदन्यत्र में मनोऽभूदित्याह नाहमेतं गन्धं प्राज्ञासिषमिति। न हि प्रज्ञापेतं चक्षु रूपं किंचन प्रज्ञापयेदन्यत्र मे मनोऽभूदित्याह । नाहमेतद्रूपं प्राज्ञासिषमिति न प्रज्ञापेतं श्रोत्रं शब्दं कंचन प्रज्ञापयेदन्यत्र मे मनोऽभूदित्याह । नाहमेतं शब्दं प्राज्ञासिषमिति न हि प्रज्ञापेता जिह्वा ऽन्नरसं कंचन प्रज्ञापयेदन्यत्र मे मनोऽभूदित्याह । नाहमेतमन्नरसं प्राज्ञासिषमिति न प्रज्ञापेतौ हस्तौ कर्म किंचन प्रज्ञापयेतामन्यत्र मे मनोऽभूदित्याह नाहमेतत्कर्म प्राज्ञाससिषमिति न हि प्रज्ञापेतं शरीरं सुखं दुःखं किंचन प्रज्ञापयेदन्यत्र मे मनोऽभूदित्याह नाहमेतत्सुखं दुःखं प्राज्ञासिषमिति न हि प्रज्ञापेत उपस्थ आनन्दं रतिं प्रजातिं कांचन प्रज्ञापयेदन्यत्र मे मनोऽभूदित्याह । नाहमेतमानन्दं न रतिं न प्रजातिं प्राज्ञासिषमिति न हि प्रज्ञापेतौ पादावित्यां कांचन प्रज्ञापयेतामन्यत्र मे मनोऽभूदित्याह । नाहमेतामित्यां प्राज्ञासिषमिति । न हि प्रज्ञापेता धीः काचन सिध्येन्न प्रज्ञातव्यं प्रज्ञायेत ॥
Speech, when devoid of consciousness, cannot make any name known.
Therefore one says:
"My mind was elsewhere; I did not recognize that name."
Prāṇa (the organ of smell), when devoid of consciousness, cannot make any odor known.
Therefore one says:
"My mind was elsewhere; I did not notice that smell."
The eye, when devoid of consciousness, cannot make any form known.
Therefore one says:
"My mind was elsewhere; I did not perceive that form."
The ear, when devoid of consciousness, cannot make any sound known.
Therefore one says:
"My mind was elsewhere; I did not hear that sound."
The tongue, when devoid of consciousness, cannot make any taste known.
Therefore one says:
"My mind was elsewhere; I did not notice that taste."
The hands, when devoid of consciousness, cannot make any action known.
Therefore one says:
"My mind was elsewhere; I was not aware of that action."
The body, when devoid of consciousness, cannot make pleasure or pain known.
Therefore one says:
"My mind was elsewhere; I did not notice that pleasure or pain."
The generative organ, when devoid of consciousness, cannot make known joy, delight, or procreation.
Therefore one says:
"My mind was elsewhere; I did not experience that joy, delight, or procreative impulse."
The feet, when devoid of consciousness, cannot make movement known.
Therefore one says:
"My mind was elsewhere; I did not notice that movement."
Likewise, the intellect, when devoid of consciousness, cannot accomplish anything.
Nor can any object of knowledge be known.
