स आगच्छतील्यं वृक्षं तं ब्रह्मगन्धः प्रविशति, स आगच्छति सालज्यं संस्थानं तं ब्रह्मरसः प्रविशति, स आगच्छत्यपराजितमायतनं तं ब्रह्मतेजः प्रविशति स आगच्छति । इन्द्रप्रजापती द्वारगोपौ तावस्मादपद्रवतः स आगच्छति विभुप्रमितं तं ब्रह्मतेजः प्रविशति स आगच्छति विचक्षणामासन्दीं बृहद्रथन्तरे सामनी पूर्वी पादौ श्यैतनौधसे चापरौ वैरूपवैराजे अनूच्येते शाक्कररैवते तिरश्ची सा प्रज्ञा प्रज्ञया हि विपश्यति स आगच्छत्यमितौजसं पर्यङ्कं स प्राणस्तस्य भूतं च भविष्यच्च पूर्वी पादौ श्रीश्चेरा चापरौ बृहद्रथंतरे अनूच्ये भद्रयज्ञायज्ञीये शीर्षण्ये ऋचश्च सामानि च प्राचीनातानानि यजूंषि तिरश्चीनानि सोमांशव उपस्तरणमुद्गीथ उपश्रीः श्रीरुपबर्हणं तस्मिन्ब्रह्मास्ते तमित्थंवित्पादेनैवाग्र आरोहति । तं ब्रह्मा पृच्छति कोऽसीति तं प्रतिब्रूयात् ॥
He comes to the Ilya Tree. Into him enters the fragrance of Brahman. He comes to the Sālajya Abode. Into him enters the essence (rasa) of Brahman. He comes to the Invincible Sanctuary (Aparājita Āyatana). Into him enters the splendor of Brahman. He arrives there. Indra and Prajāpati stand as the guardians of the gate. They withdraw before him. He comes to the hall called Vibhupramita. Into him enters the radiance of Brahman. He comes to the throne called Vicakṣaṇā ("the Seat of Insight"). The chants Bṛhat and Rathantara Sāman form its front legs. The chants Śyaitana and Naudhasa form its rear legs. The chants Vairūpa and Vairāja are recited along its sides. The chants Śākvara and Raivata extend across it. It is Wisdom (Prajñā), for by wisdom one truly sees. He comes to the couch called Amitaujas ("Infinite Splendor"). It is Prāṇa (Life-Breath). Its front legs are the Past and the Future. Its rear legs are Prosperity and Earth. The chants Bṛhat and Rathantara are recited along its sides. The hymns Bhadra, Yajñāyajñīya, the Ṛg-verses, the Sāman chants, and the Yajur formulas adorn it. The Soma stalks form its covering. The Udgītha is its pillow. Splendor is its cushion. Upon that couch sits Brahman. The knower of this approaches and ascends it with one foot only. Then Brahman asks him: "Who are you?" To Him he should reply...
