प्राणायामक्रमं वक्ष्ये सांकृते शृणु सादरम्। प्राणायाम इति प्रोक्तो रेचपूरककुम्भकैः ॥
Lord Dattatreya said - "O Sänkyti! Now I am going to tell you about Pränäyäma. Listen to it with perfect obeisance. Präņāyāma is a process of controlling the breathing by systematic adoption of Puraka, Kumbhaka and Recaka viz., Inhale, retain and exhale.
