Jabal Darshan • Chapter 1 • Shloka 20
स्वदेहमलनिर्मोक्षो मृजलाभ्यां महामुने। यत्तच्छौचं भवेद्वाह्यं मानसं मननं विदुः । अहं शुद्ध इति ज्ञानं शौचमाहुर्मनीषिणः ॥
O great sage, the cleansing of the impurities of one's body through earth and water is known as external purity (Bāhya Śauca).
The wise regard contemplation as mental purity (Mānasa Śauca). Furthermore, the knowledge, “I am pure,” is declared by the sages to be the highest purity (Śauca).
