आत्माऽज्ञानाज्जगद्भाति आत्मज्ञानान्न भासते।
रज्जवज्ञानादहिर्भाति तज्ज्ञानाद्भासते न हि॥
Through ignorance of the Ātman, the universe appears to exist.
Through the knowledge of the Ātman, it no longer appears as a separate reality.
Just as a snake appears through ignorance of the rope,
and disappears when the rope is truly known.
