Aitareya • Chapter 4 • Shloka 1
पुरुषे ह वा अयमादितो गर्भो भवति यदेतद्रेतः।
तदेतत्सर्वेभ्योऽङ्गेभ्यस्तेजः संभूतमात्मन्येवात्मानं बिभर्ति तद्यदा स्त्रियां सिञ्चत्यथैनज्जनयति तदस्य प्रथमं जन्म ॥
In a person, this being first becomes the embryo, in the form of seed (retas).
This seed is the essence of vitality gathered from all the limbs and faculties of the body.
Thus, a person bears his own self within himself.
When he deposits this seed in a woman, it develops into new life.
That is his first birth.
