Charioteer— Long-lived one, the ground was uneven, therefore I had pulled the reins and slowed the speed (movement) of the chariot. Because of this, the deer has gone farther away. But now, upon this level ground, it will not be difficult for you (that is, you will easily catch it). King— Then loosen the reins. Charioteer— As you command. (Acting the movement of the speeding chariot) Long-lived one, behold— behold! Upon the loosening of the reins, these horses of the chariot, as though unable to endure the speed of the deer, stretch forward the front parts of their bodies; the crests (yak-tail ornaments) upon their heads remain motionless at the tips (extremities); their ears are stiff and raised upward; and they continue to race ahead, becoming almost impossible to overtake even by the dust raised (scattered) by their own hooves.
