King— Charioteer, by this deer we have been drawn (very) far away. Behold, even now this (deer), while running ahead of (our) chariot, repeatedly turns its neck back gracefully to glance behind; out of fear of being struck by an arrow, it has contracted most of its hind part toward the front (that is, it has drawn the rear portion of its body forward); and from its mouth, opened due to exhaustion, half-chewed (partially chewed) blades of kusa grass are falling and scattering along the path. Because of its high leaps (bounds), it seems to run more in the sky (through the air) and less upon the earth.
