“Very well, remaining concealed behind the tree (in its cover), I shall quietly observe this (Shakuntala).” (He does so)Shakuntala—
“Friend Anasuya, I am being tightly constrained by this bark-garment (bodice made of tree bark), which has been fastened too tightly by Priyamvada.
Please loosen it a little.”
Anasuya—
“Very well.” (She loosens it)Priyamvada—
(Jestingly) “Blame your own youth here (for this), which is causing your breasts to expand.
Why are you blaming me?”
King—
“She has spoken rightly.
This youthful (that is, newly blossomed with youth) body of (Shakuntala), covered by the bark-garment fastened with a small knot upon the shoulder and concealing the fullness of her bosom, does not fail to enhance (rather, it increases) her beauty, just as a flower partly covered by yellow leaves appears even more charming.”
