Abhijnanashakuntalam • Chapter 1 • Shloka 12
राजा--एष प्रतिसंहतः । (इति यथोक्तं करोति) ।
वैखानसः- सदृशमेतत् पुरुवंशप्रदीपस्य भवतः ।
जन्म यस्य पुरोर्वशो युक्तरूपमिदं तव । पुत्रमेवं गुणोपेतं चक्रवर्तिनमाप्नुहिं ।।
King—
“This (arrow) has been withdrawn (from the bow).” (The King acts accordingly, that is, he removes the arrow from the bow)
Ascetic—
“This is indeed worthy of you, O light of the Puru dynasty.
For one such as yourself, (who has been) born in the lineage of Puru, this (withdrawing the arrow from the bow at the request of the ascetic) is most fitting.
May you likewise obtain a universal emperor-like son endowed with such virtues.”
