About this Scripture
Manki Geeta is found in the Shanti Parva of Mahabharata in the sequence of Bhishma-Yudhishthira dialogue. It describes an interesting and instructive story of an ancient sage named Manki, through which desire, especially the desire for wealth, is said to be the root of all sorrows and the renunciation of desire is the cause of happiness.
